AI movie identifier finding a film title from a movie screenshot

Find any movie or TV show — from a screenshot, a scene, a clip or a few words

You saw a scene on social media, caught a few seconds of a film on a TV in a waiting room, or you simply remember a story but not its name. This free AI movie finder answers "what movie is this?" — or "what film is this from?" — in seconds, and gives you everything you need to watch it tonight. It works as a film finder for any picture, scene or description.

Three ways to search

1. Find a movie by screenshot, picture or scene

Upload a screenshot, paste one from your clipboard, or take a photo of the screen. The AI looks at the actors, sets, costumes, lighting and any on-screen text to recognise the film or series.

Tip: a frame where a face is clearly visible gives the most confident answers. Photos of a TV screen work too — try to avoid strong reflections.

2. Find a movie by describing it

No picture? Write what you remember: the plot, one memorable scene, an actor, the country or the decade. For example:

  • "A heist movie where they steal ideas from people's dreams."
  • "An animated film about a rat who secretly cooks in a Paris restaurant."
  • "A 90s thriller with a bus that explodes if it slows down."

The more specific the detail, the better — but even a half-remembered sentence often works.

3. Find a movie from a video clip

Have a short clip from TikTok, Instagram or your camera roll? Choose it in the Video clip tab. Your browser takes four frames from across the clip and only those frames are analysed — the video itself never leaves your device.

What you get

Every answer comes with a full title card, not just a name:

  • Best match with a confidence level, plus other possible matches you can switch to in one click
  • Rating, runtime, genres and director (or creator and seasons for a series)
  • The official trailer, playable right on the page
  • Where to watch in your country — streaming, rent or buy
  • Top cast with their roles, and links to IMDb and TMDB
  • Why the AI thinks so — the visual clues or plot points it matched

Not the right one? Search again

Movie memories are fuzzy, so the first answer isn't always it. Under every result you can add a hint — "it's from the 90s", "it's a Korean series", "the actor was older" — and search again. The AI skips the titles it already suggested and looks for new candidates.

How accurate is it?

Well-known films and series are usually recognised from a single clear frame or a one-line description. Obscure titles, very dark scenes and frames without people are harder; in those cases the tool tells you its confidence honestly and suggests what extra detail would help. If it can't find a confident match, it says so instead of guessing.

Privacy

Screenshots and frames are only used to answer your question. Video clips are never uploaded — just four still frames taken in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a movie from a screenshot?

Upload or paste the screenshot in the Screenshot tab and press Identify the movie. The AI studies the faces, sets, costumes, colour grading and any on-screen text, then gives you its best match with a confidence level, the trailer and where to watch it.

What film is this from? Can it find a movie from one scene?

Yes. A single scene is usually enough: upload a screenshot or picture of it and the movie scene finder matches the actors, setting and style to the right film or series, and tells you which scene it is when it can.

Can I find a movie by describing the plot?

Yes. Open the Describe it tab and write what you remember — the story, a scene, an actor, roughly when you saw it. Even a vague sentence like a man who relives the same day is usually enough.

Can it identify a movie from a video clip?

Yes. In the Video clip tab, choose a short clip. Your browser takes four frames from it and only those frames are analysed — the video itself is never uploaded.

Does it work for TV series and anime?

Yes. The identifier recognises films and TV series, including animated films, anime and international productions. Series results show the number of seasons and the creator.

What if the answer is wrong?

Use Not the right one? under the result. Add a hint such as the decade, the language or an actor and search again — the AI skips the titles it already suggested. You can also click any of the other possible matches.

Is the movie identifier free?

Yes. Your first search each day needs no account at all. A free account adds a daily allowance for more searches, with no card required.
