What breed is my dog? Find out from a photo
Adopted a dog with an unknown background, or met a dog you can't stop thinking about? Upload a photo — or describe the dog — and the AI dog breed identifier names the breed or mix, with what that means for temperament, exercise and care.
How it works
- Upload a photo (side view, standing, face visible works best) — or use Describe it.
- Add details if you know them (optional): size, coat, age.
- Get the result: the most likely breed with confidence, a reference card with photos, plus temperament and care tips.
Mixed breeds
Most shelter dogs are mixes. The identifier lists the most likely parent breeds with an approximate share — for example "Labrador Retriever ≈60%" and "Poodle ≈40%". A DNA test is the only way to be certain, but this gives you a solid idea of what to expect.
What you get
- Breed or mix with confidence and other possible matches
- Reference card with photos and a short breed summary
- Temperament: key personality traits
- Care: exercise, grooming, lifespan and a common health point to watch
Tips for the best result
- Take the photo at the dog's eye level, in daylight
- Show the whole body — size, legs and tail matter
- Add the adult weight or height if you know it
